Anyway, we agree that big stars have bigger social obligations and hence, we won’t bug SRK over this petty issue. The real thing is that Billoo Barber is ready and that’s what it counts. Shah Rukh is also the producer of this Priyadarshan flick which is a modern-day adaptation of the relationship between Krishna and his childhood friend Sudama.

Meanwhile, I’m just wondering how the film has ended up. SRK and Irrfan are facing each other for the first time in this comedy flick, and I’m sure it will give us some great moments.

Besides the trio of Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra, it seems the gay element in the film has helped the film click well with the overseas audience. Whatever be the reason but the verdict is out and Dostana is a super-hit.

Lets take a look at the opening weekend collections of the three major overseas box office. In UK, the film managed to gross £330,000 in the opening weekend. The figures for the US and UAE collections are $442,000 and $597,000 respectively. That’s some achievement! And this goes on to prove that friendship is a subject that will never go damp at the box office.

As per reports, Abhishek was approached by Yashraj films to play a cameo opposite Rani for their upcoming flick Hadippa. Ash jumped in between and asked Abhishek to turn down the offer because of Rani’s involvement in the project. Abhishek played the perfect husband and gave a thumbs down to Yashraj films.

It seems Ash and Abhi’s marriage has experienced the first scratches of the one-year-itch. Well, I sincerely pray that the marriage survives, but if Ash continues with her erratic and unprofessional attitude, she sure will dig trenches in her own lawn. I don’t think Abhishek will bow down before each of her whimsical demands. This will result in a fierce clash between two super egos, and we all know how it ends.

I hope Ash forgets all this stupidity and behaves in a rational manner.

Riding high on the success of Jodha Akbar, Hrithik looks pretty poised to take on the big challenge. I’m pretty sure Hrithik will excel in this role too. He has got that perfect blend of masculine appeal with a gentle attitude. Besides, father-in-law Sanjay Khan is an expert in dealing with epics. He will leave no stone unturned in taking the best out of Hrithik.

There is no news about the rest of the cast, but I have an uncanny feeling that Ash will be roped in to play Sita. As for the larger-than-life character of Hanuman, we can only wish that we get someone like Dara Singh to play the role. However, I’m not too much worried about Ravan. We have too many here in Bollywood who fit the bill.

Anyway, let’s keep our fingers crossed till we get any further news on this project.

Romancing with my thoughts, moving forward forever, always looking to the future. Dev Anand has defined his credo pithily indeed. In this fascinating trip down memory lane, this traverses a life that may be called an enduring saga of style and exuberance. It has been said of his contemporary, Dilip Kumar that he has more charm in his little finger than anybody else in the film industry, and about whom Dev Anand himself says that he has been the most important and charismatic actor of our times; While Dilip Kumar and subsequent towering geniuses have retained that aura, that mystery, around them, that eternal appeal around them all these years, Dev Anand has been like that special ray of sunshine which has exemplified a life enriched every minute by an attitude that has helped him retain his distinct individuality. He has never let the grass grow under his feet. His much awaited, autobiography released some months back, brings out several aspects of his life, many of which may have been known to his ever constant fan club, but through this rather well written book gives us glimpses and some fresh insights into the man. He always revealed only as much as he wants to.

He has been a very public person who at the sometime zealously guarded his personal life from unnecessary intrusions. Perhaps the greatest star Bombay has seen, as also the one who has transcended limited histrionic ability by his sheer aplomb and gusto. The vagaries of the box office, and in his case they have been in recent years been very adverse, seem never to affect him; but he is human, after all, and he says that he was disappointed when after a long wait, he was honored not with a Pa-dma Vibhushan as he had been told and was given a Padma Bhushan instead; but for a man who has been such a darling, such formal honor are merely symbolic. He reveals that one of the projects he is excited about is to make a film on his music in collaboration with Ravi Shankar. philospohical touch in the male version: Kaun jeeta hai kisi aur ki khatir
ae dost,sabko apni hi kisi baat pe rona aaya...

To locate Dev’s contribution in the eight decades of the talkie, one must be prepared to make generous allowances. As generous as the man himself. Where others like Guru Dutt and to an extent, Raj Kappor were seeped in their social and ideological milieu, Dev prefered to play the unconventional role; No thespian, or thinking, actor like Dilip Kumar,Dev Anand has been style personified, his mannerisms, his gesticulations speaking a language of their own; Guide was his most definitive contribution to the world of films. But it has been his persona, handsome and ever so charming, that has endured this incredible man. More like Gregory Peck that he has been rather than Dilip has been like Paul Muni or Montgomery Clift or Raj Kapoor was the loveable tramp championing the cause of the underdog. Unlike Peck, he seldom allowed script writers and directors to determine his cinematic visage.

Always the man of the moment, he has been unlike Vijay Anand or Guru Dutt who combined craft with socially relevant thematic content. He has not been governed by self exploration, or an attempt to use the medium as a philosophical vehicle. But for all that- nobody, just nobody- can ever forget this great romantic.

Well, it seems Akshay is having some big problem with his forthcoming film Tashan. He has blatantly refused to attend the promotion parties, the media events. He will not work anymore with Yash Raj films. It seems that Akki baby has some issues with the promotion of his forthcoming film. He says that Aditya Chopra is not using his solo pictures or trailers for the film. Instead he is more concerned with portraying the star couple- Kareena and Saif strongly since they might earn some extra moolahs for the film. Well, Akshay, how can you ever think of getting all the attention when lover boy Saif and scandal queen Bebo is there? Besides, there is our lovable Anil Kapoor who seems to have accepted this bitter truth.

If this is not all, Aditya Chopra has declared that he won’t do anymore films with Akki. It seems Akshay won’t mind. With films like Bhool Bhulaiyya and Heyy Baby in the past year, Akshay has increased his fan following considerably well.

Movie buffs love him so do the controversies! Earlier it was for his involvement in Narmada project and now his ‘not-so-kind’ comments on Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s opus Black Aamir Khan has to face a lot of flacks. Many of his detractors believe that he intentionally made such statement to garner publicity for ‘Taare Zamin Par’, his first directorial venture.

Since the story of Taare Zamin Par revolves around a dyslexic child and his teacher, very similar with that of Black, comparison between these two films is inevitable. Now it would be interesting to see if controversy translates into box office collection.

Everyone was wondering what Salman Khan is doing in Saawariya, while the film promos where showcasing the two new comers Sonam and Ranbir Kapoor? In a recent interview, Salman disclosed his role in the film. Salman is playing a Muslim character called Iman who is a tough person but at the same time, there is a lot of humour in the character. The character is romantic and at the same time flirtatious. He is cast against Rani Mukherjee in the film, their sixth film together.

Is Salman apprehensive about Saawariya’s fate being released on the same day as the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Om Shanti Om.? According to Salman Saawariya would have been affected by Om Shanti Om no matter whether the film had been released before or after the SRK starrer.

As for the two new comers, Salman said that they had done a wonderful job in the movie, and in case Om Shanti Om had a better box office collection then they should take heart from the fact that they were pitted against a SRK starrer.

Salman further clarified that he was definitely having his wax statue installed in Madam Tassauds. As for his three-film deal with Ashtavinayak for a whopping 12 crore, Salman said it was only a one film deal.
