The undue importance heaped on Bollywood seems to have irked the South Indian filmmaker. And they made is amply clear in Panaji where they voiced their anger against the organizers of the recently concluded International Film Festival of India (IFFI). They also threatened to boycott the function next year if the discrimination in favor of Bollywood continued.
T.V. Chandran, the Award-winning director was highly critical of the organizers, and was the one who sounded the warning. He was of the opinion that films in other languages and the filmmakers making them should be treated at par with the Bollywood films and filmmakers.
Another well known film directors who came down heavily on the organizers was Cheran who came with his film "Thavamai Thavamiirindu" to the IFFI. But he was annoyed for a different reason. He took offence of the fact that the usual procedure was not followed. However, he also remarked that it was just the Bollywood that represented the Indian film industry.
