Shilpa Shetty has gone international, and not just for Big Brother. The Bollywood actress is all set to star in a musical that is expected to have its premier in London late this year.
She has already been signed for this musical - ‘From Bollywood to Hollywood’. She is playing the lead role. The production is somewhat inspired by Moulin Rouge, as Shilpa Shetty’s spokesperson, Mr. Dale Bhagwagar, told BBC News.

According to him, Shilpa’s role in this production would require ‘lots of dancing and acting’, which he said Shilpa enjoys very much. He mentioned that this musical would concentrate on her performance and dancing skills, leaving the singing part to professionals.
He further said:
She is not a professional singer. I think she is a bathroom singer but she excels in dancing and performing
He also added that regarding this production the primary intention of Shilpa is to display Bollywood and Indian Culture to the Western audience.
Mr. Bhagwagar said that it was yet not possible for him to give out the director’s name, but mentioned that famous Indian choreographer Ganesh Hegde would supervise and conduct the dances for the musical. As gathered from him, popular Indian designer Neeta Lulla would design Shilpa’s costumes in this production, which will portray the ethics and culture of India.
The musical is expected to travel to other parts of the world, possibly even in India, followed by a few shows in London.
It seems that Shilpa is now in for the international limelight. She has already earned herself some international attention after she won the Celebrity Big Brother earlier this year.
Her participation in the show had involved a controversy regarding racial discrimination. She was apparently the target of racist comments by fellow housemates. The dignity and strength of character with which she conducted herself during the conflict earned her a lot of praise afterwards.
Her career in Bollywood had gained momentum with the film ‘Baazigar’, in which she starred against Shah Rukh Khan. The other notable films in her career are - Main Khiladi Tu Anari (Me Player, You Buffoon) and Dhadkan (Heartbeat), and Phir Milenge (Will Meet Again).
Shilpa Shetty’s latest film, ‘Apne’ is to be released in India this week. In the recent months, she has not signed any new Bollywood projects.
Looks like Shilpa will turn out to be a competitor as far as Aishwariya Rai and her quest for a place in Hollywood is concerned.
