It was being said for a long time that public awareness is the only measure of saving wildlife properties. The situation gets better if the film actors come out as campaigners and apply to their fans to take care of this sensitive issue. After involving bollywood giants like Amitabh Bachchan, Naseruddin Shah, and sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar in highlighting the ivory trend and the issues like tiger poaching, sssthis time Asian Conservation Awareness Programme (ACAP) aims Bollywood king Shahrukh Khan for a voice over in an ad campaign that will deal with the poaching issues and the thankless job of a forest guard, which is becoming difficult day by day. The main aim of this campaign will be to discourage people from purchasing wild life products. Aneeta (Tykee) Malhotra of ACAP said

The general public is the consumer of those products which are manufactured from the depleting resources. There is a demand for ivory products, tiger products putting at risk many endangered species. Less of demand for such products will mean less of poaching, which would aid the forest guards

While poaching and trafficking has been the main challenge behind wild life conservation, the only way to restore the equilibrium is by means of public awareness. In this regard, the public faces like actors and sportspersons act like magic in order to create hype and in drawing mass attention. This is another welcome move from ACAP, which have dedicated themselves in the goal of wild life and the protection of the same. Using Shahrukh Khan in the voice over, ACAP is certain to create a huge mass awareness to aid in their venture. The new venture will be shown in television, and also on billboards in both English and Hindi.

ACAP has been using celebrities in their campaigns for quite a time now. The move is welcome, and the role played by the actors is much appreciated. But the question comes does it really solve the problem? Can it create enough awareness among people so that they reject wildlife properties as souvenirs? Time will tell the answer, but at least some organization is out lying stepping stones, surely towards a brighter and enriched wildlife property.
