The director gained fame and praise for his successful Punjabi film ever Shaheed-e-Mohabbat Buta Singh which was remade in Hindi by Anil Sharma as Gadar .
Punj on 22nd October died due to massive cardiac arrest.
Manoj Punj had plans to start one film for Tips and another one for his most close friend Gurdas Maan and wife Manjit.
