With the recent buzz in the Bollywood circuit being that Saif Ali Khan has turned down Karan Johar’s next, the actor confirms that the refusal was due to date problems and not because of any insecurtiy in sharing screen space with colleague Abhishek Bachchan.

The yet untitled movie which will be director Tarun Mansukhani’s debut was slated to cast the Chote Nawab. Reports have it that the actor turned down the offer not only because of dates coinciding but also he had to maintain a particular look in Kunal’s movie which he had accepted before hand.

The actor is doing Abbas-Mustan’s ‘Race’ alongside Yash Raj Films’ ‘Tashan’ where Saif is maintaing a beard for both the movies, after which he will be starring in Kunal’s next with a differnt look. The date of Karan and Kunal coincided and so the actor opted for already signed movie.

According to the actor in demand these days, Saif feels that ‘look’ of a character is of prime importance because it crafts the role of an actor and helps him or her to get completely involved in the character.

For instance, the actor posed a long haired-untidy look in Hum Tum which really brought the character alive. Confirming that there is no insecurity with Abhishek and commenting upon his prospects Saif says,

It is not because I’m insecure about being in the same picture as Abhishek for Christ’s sake! As a matter of fact the little that I got to work with Abhishek in ‘Salaam Namaste’, I really enjoyed myself. I can see us having a ball on a film together.

I’d love to do a full-fledged film with Abhishek any day. My loss entirely. It’s always a pleasure to work with Karan. He’s a dear friend since ‘Kal Ho Naa Ho’. I’m sure there’ll be other opportunities
