Rai betrothed to junior Bachchan

Former Miss World 94 and queen of Bollywood Aishwarya Rai and superstar Abhishek Bachchan after several weeks of rumors, are finally engaged. The engagement ceremony took place at the former Miss World's house in Mumbai on Sunday.

Ash and Abhishek had returned early Sunday morning from Toronto after the premier of their film Guru.

Ms Rai's secretary Hari Singh confirmed the engagement to BBC. Both the family members were present at the ceremony and Amitabh Bachchan's close friend Amar Singh was also present there. Other guests included Karan Johar, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Anil and Tina Ambani.

It is supposed that marriage will be taking place on 19th. February 2007 but the date is not confirmed yet.

Rumors of the couple's engagement ignited when the stars visited a Hindu temple in November. Ash and Abhishek first acted together in the movie 'Kuch na Kaho' in 2003. Since then both of them stared coming close to each other.

Before this Ash was dating Bollywood actor Salman Khan but they broke-up few years later. Afterwards, Ash was once again in limelight for dating her co-star Vivek Oberio.

Abhishek was once engaged to former actress Karishma Kapoor but Karishma married Delhi-based industrialist Sanjay Kapoor in September 2003.

Now finally Ash and Abhishek got engaged and are supposed to be Bollywood's hot couple. The couple have been dubbed 'India's Brangelina' after Hollywood's top couple, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie.

Well, I don't know about the world but for me the couple does not appeal. If I had the chance to match Abhishek, Rani Mukherji would have been my first choice. What do you say about Abhishek and Rani?
