Priyanka Chopra is donning a new role, which would subvert our usual Bollywood ‘take home-perfect stake’ stereotype image of heroine. She is playing bodyguard to a nerdy Abhishek Bachchan in movie Drona and has done absolute homework for the role.
She elaborates:
I have trained myself in Sikh Martial arts- Gatka for this film.
Gatka is very dangerous. I fought with one sword with a group of people as a part of my training programme. I specially went to Punjab to learn this art. In fact I injured myself at few occasions and had a narrow escape on others.
Bollywood has no influential action heroine reminiscence except few as Hema Malini in Jyoti, Rekha in Khoon Bhari Maang(for rest of them, you will have to hassle your grey cells!). Priyanka is definitely treading an atypical lane and she is upbeat about it.
She says:
My entire look in ‘Drona’ is very virile and aggressive.
My character is more action-oriented. In fact, for a change it’s the leading lady doing more of the bossing than the hero.
The stylist for the movie is Anaita Shroff, who changed Aishwarya’s look for Dhoom 2. Priyanka’s look, body language, etc have been worked upon to make her look valiant yet glamorous, super babe.
