Bollywood have been experiencing inspired movies for quite a long time now. Directors got inspired while watching some foreign hits and then incorporate the main idea, sometimes scene by scene in Indian scenario to create an Indian blockbuster. This time a Will Smith’s production house Overbrook Entertainment along with Sony Pictures Entertainment, has accused Eros and K Sera Sera, producers of current Bollywood hit Partner, for remaking a direct lift version of a Will Smith starrer Hitch, considering a possibility of 30 million dollars suit. Rumors are also there that this is nothing but a publicity stunt by Sony Production house in order to strengthen their ground in Bollywood.

A remake is defined as a scene by scene reproduction of the original version. But in this case, like all other inspired versions, the definition is not satisfied. The entire concept has been incorporated in Indian background to create Indian magic. This is somehow different with the original version. The difference is mainly in the implementation, where the movie has been incorporated in Indian scenario. It is copied, but then the copied thing has been modified to suit Indian circumstances.

But most probably it is high time for the Indian producers to start depending on their own ideas. They need to grow up. How long can you expect a production house survive with other people’s ideas? Depending upon your own idea is always fruitful, as it will never fetch lawsuits towards your office. The sooner they realize the fact, the better will be the quality of the movies produced in Bollywood. Originality should be the first priority, in order to make movies that will be remembered for ever.

This time it is Partner, but there are many more films that escaped the legal consequences just because they were not noticed by the proper people at the proper time. But Partner tells us to depend on our own skills rather importing other’s ideas in our own stories. The trend is never accepted in Bollywood. If this continues, there will be more lawsuits coming towards producers’ way in recent future.
