India's contender for Oscar, Paheli's fate has been decided. This Sharukh Khan Starrer, Amol Palekar's movie defeated Black and Parineeta at the national front but couldn't prove its strength at Oscars where it was competing with films from 59 other countries.

Its has disappointed the Indian masses, Media and undoubtly Pahelis team as every body is longing for India to win a Oscar award. Few years back Aamir Khan's home production Lagaan made it to the elite five but couldn't grab the award.
I guess just like all of us Actor and Producer Sharukh Khan also had doubts that Paheli will make it to the nominations. After attending a handful of screenings of his film he got mixed reviews and realized that foreign audiences has got a different taste.
I think Black would have been a stronger challenger than Paheli for rest of the foreign film. I remember when it was released it was being considered as the India's first cross over film. So what if not Oscar Black has hit Clean Sweeps at the Bollywood award Ceremonies.
