nishabd-caught-in-copyright-infringement_38 Ram Gopal Varma, after the legal battle following his decision to remake Sholay, has now gripped in another legal wrangle for his shortly to be released film Nishabd.The Delhi High Court has made issuance of a notice to Varma’s RGV Film Factory for infringing copyright. Bengali filmmaker Jahar Kanungo claims to have retained the copyright to the title Nishabd over ten years since his Bengali film of the similar title put on the show in 2005.

After taking notice of introductory arguments, Justice A K Sikri requested Varma, RGV Film Factory, Adlabs Films Ltd and Super Cassettees Ltd to put forward their replies to the assertions in the petition by March 23. As maintained by the petition, the Central Board of Film Certification had given a green signal to the name for the film in June 2005. Kanungo has requested direction of the court to put a stop to the release of the Bachchan starrer Nishabd, which has been scheduled for release this month.
