After graduating from Harvard University, she started her career in bollywood as an actor and finally became a great director. And now, after grabbing various awards, Mira Nair will be honored with 'Pride of India' award at the 9th Bollywood Film Awards later this year for her contributions to the film industry.
The chairman of Bollywood Group of companies, Kamal Dandona, dripped the news followed by extolling her contribution in terms of advancing country's ethnicity worldwide.
The on-screen version of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel, 'The Namesake' with the same name is the director's recent venture. It has been critically commended and is a commercial success.
According to her,
This is really wonderful that there is room for all of us...for our four-hour Bollywood shows and for my autonomous work...because we appear from a place whose heart is as big as the ocean. And those who fret about filmmakers turning into more international than Indian, I would tell them that this is because my roots are so strong that I can fly.
