The news is that Lisa Ray, after her calls act in ‘Water’, is set to play a lesbian in Sheetal Seth’s ‘I Can’t Think Straight’. Based on Shamim Sharif’s autobiographical book, the film is being called ‘a lesbian love story’.
This is not a first lesbian film made by an Indian. We already have ‘Fire’ and ‘Girlfriend’. Therefore, it is unlikely that the subject of alternate sexuality would ignite a controversy.
Aseem Bajaj, the director of photography for the film doesn’t feel that there could be a controversy. He says
I won’t say the film is going to be controversial, not in this day and age. Sharif has handled the theme with great delicacy.
When Lisa was contacted, she preferred to remain tightlipped about the movie and her role in it.
Lisa has never been shy of controversy and seems to be evolving into a better actress with every passing day.
