Some respite for all those who still want to keep the nation’s hopes alive in the upcoming Asian Games. The Bachchans have done it again. This time the couple are sponsoring India’s Latin American Dance couple Shannon Benjamin and Dr Priti Gupta in the upcoming Indoor Asian Games slated to take place in Macau on October 27th.
An encouragement for the dancing duo who are just eight steps away from being a part of the 2008 Olympics. All this while the Bachchans’ generosity have taken them to a high international level. One of India’s biggest star studded family have shown their goodwill over the years by sponsoring the dancing duo enabling them participate in the Open Dance Sport Championship, the International Dance Sport Championship and other competitions that have got them to this level.
Students of Latin American dance, their choreographer Sandip Soparrkar makes a special mention that this is the first time India will be represented in this category at the Asian Games and says,
If they get through the Asian championship, they will have eight more green signals to pass till the Olympics. The Bachchans’ have sponsored the two since the beginning of the year.
Elated about helping talent grow internationally by sponsoring them and giving them encouragement, Big B says,
Dance is a combination of physical activity and fun, it attracts many committed athletes. As a result, it is rapidly achieving the status of a competitive sport. If figure skating and diving can rate as an Olympic sport, then surely so can dancing. It is a celebration of diversity and an instrument for peace. Dance away the blues’ - how true it is, not only for the dancer, but also the viewer.
For all those people across the globe who look up to Big B as a source of inspiration and strength attain yet another reason to put the superstar at a higher pedestral. This gesture by the Bachchans clearly suggests that the star couple are worth to be recognized as ambassadors of not only the film fraternity but the country as well.
