When Sarat Chandra Chatterjee wrote his Devdas, he would have never imagined that years later his character would be wearing jeans, T-shirts, goggles, and using a deodorant. Well, all this would be a reality soon in the third version of Devdas.

Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has decided that it’s the time that Devdas becomes contemporary, so that today’s generation can associate itself with the character. The lead role would be played by actor Abhay Deol. Who is better known for his relationship with Deol’s family rather than his acting skills. Mahi Gill, a Punjabi actress, will play Paro, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya would be playing the role of Chunilal. The hunt is on to find a suitable actress for the role of Chandramukhi.

It was actor Abhay Deol who suggested the idea of modern Devdas. Though the movie is believed to have in sync with today’s era, nevertheless Devdas would be drinking once again to death.

It would be interesting to watch whether this modern Devdas will appeal to movie lovers or it falls flat on the box-office.
