Shilpa Shetty, Bollywood actor and Big Brother winner is basking in copious gazes yet again with University of Leeds of UK conferring an Honorary Doctorate Degree on her. The award will be given today as part of University’s summer graduation celebration.
Dale Bhagwagar, Shilpa’s spokesperson notifies:
The honorary doctorate is in recognition of Shilpa’s outstanding contribution to cultural diversity and good relations between the peoples of the United Kingdom and India. It’s a proud moment for all of us.

The University had recently conferred similar doctorates on India’s Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel and Indian film prodigies Amitabh Bachchan, Yash Chopra and Shabana Azmi. Shilpa Shetty is youngest to join the club.
The Leeds Metropolitan University is the official education partner of IIFA, offering students and staff a chance to intermingle with champs of Indian Cinema, particularly through the University’s Northern Film School.
Shilpa, who was astonished to hear the news, said:
It came as a huge surprise for me too as well. But I am really humbled and I accept it. I don’t know how to react.
Sharing the platform with great stalwarts like Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan), Yashji (Yash Chopra), Shabanaji (Shabana Azmi) is a huge honor.
Shilpa’s ‘Move West Policy’ is reaping great dividends for her career. If Big Brother show win revitalized her lost and found career, then this Doctorate Degree will definitely act as thrust fuel to her Hollywood quest.
