daler-mehndi_2282Well-known pop singer Daler Mehndi sent a legal notice to film producer Yash Chopra in quest of damages of Rs. 1 crore for criminal breach of trust, claiming his voice was swapped with that of another singer in the title song of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom scheduled for a release soon.

Mehndi also sent notices to film director Shaad Ali, lyricist Gulzar and singer Shanker Mahadevan through his advocate, Nawal Kishore Jha, and sought apology within 15 days.

Jha told the media,

If the parties do not respond within the fixed time-frame, Mehndi shall advance for prosecution in opposition to all these persons for criminal acts of cheating, fraud and deceitful maneuvering.

The Punjabi singer alleged that the producer eradicated his voice and dubbed it with that of Shankar Mahadevan’s with a view to deprive him from getting payment for strapping out the number.

The counsel revealed that this truth came into light only on May 15 when the album was released.
