Controversies are hard avoided in Bollywood. The most recent one surrounded the very peppy title song ‘Hare Ram Hare Krishna‘, from the film ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa‘. The song, the sole purpose of which was to entertain, ended up hurting the religious sentiments of some people.
Portions of the song that showed eight to ten semi-naked girls dancing with a statue of Gautama Buddha in the background have been snipped and the song has been re-released.
A Mumbai based NGO - ‘Eccha Foundation’ has filed a petition against Censor Board of Film Certification chairperson, producers Bhushan and Kishen Kumar, director Priyadarshan, Akshay Kumar and choreographer Ganesh Acharya in the court.
The film is slated for a next week release and the producers, who wanted to be on the safe side readily agreed to re-edit the song and replace the objectionable, old version.
This is not the first time when bollywood is being accused of doing something objectionable. Trying to be innovative, sometimes our directors cross the limit and end up bearing a hefty price.
