After 'The Namesake', much-admired director Mira Nair has again made the headlines. The film-maker is bringing together mega star Amitabh Bachchan and Hollywood icon Johnny Depp in her forthcoming venture. The two celebs will share the spotlight in her Shantaram, based on Gregory David Robert's novel of the same name.

After Don (old one), Bachchan will once again be spotted as an underworld don in the movie. On the other hand, Depp slips into the cloak of a drug addict, who runs away from an Australian prison and land up in Mumbai.
The movie will depict how the heroin addict finds himself in a Mumbai slum all of sudden and how he goes about with being an absolute stranger in an 'alien land'.
Nair told that Shantaram would be a big budget affair. The shooting of this assignment is anticipated to begin during the fall of this year.
The director of the Oscar nominated Salam Bombay said:
It is important to keep the continuum of the east and west going.
The Namesake smashed the US box office, taking it to the 'Top 20 film list' there. Let's hope we get to see something as interesting and mind-boggling as 'The Namesake'.
