Madhur Bhandarkar’s latest project ‘Fashion’ is already making waves, with speculation rife about the plot and its relation to the real goings on in the fashion industry.

Launched in 2006, in collaboration with UTV, ‘Fashion’ was scheduled to be released in the third quarter of 2007, but so far only the lead role has been cast, with Priyanka Chopra bagging the role of the main protagonist.

Bhandarkar’s earlier films, Chandni Bar, Corporate and Page Three won critical and commercial acclaim for their vivid portrayals of varied worlds. In ‘Fashion’, he will attempt to portray what lies beneath the glitz and glamour of the ramp.

The latest report is that the film revolves around the rivalry between two male fashion designers over a model, which Bhandarkar denies is the case. In an interview to IANS, Bhandarkar commented,

First of all, my protagonists are not male. Priyanka Chopra is the person from whose perspective the whole film unfolds. Her character is followed by Kangana Ranaut who also has a very powerful role. The rest of the characters are yet to be cast

Bhandarkar admits one of the sub-plots might go into the rivalry between two male fashion designers. But the film will not be a who’s who of the fashion world.
