As the term of President A P J Abdul Kalam is about to come to a close just about five months after, discussions appear to have already started to handpick his successor. If we go on the sources, then superstar Amitabh Bachchan's name is being heard in political spheres. Bachchan's friends in the Samajwadi Party (SP) have started murmuring his name in terms of a would-be candidate, with the support for his candidature allegedly flooding from many a political parties such as the SP, TDP (Telegu Desam Party), AIADMK and Asom Gana Parishad (AGP).

As indicated by sources, the Samajwadi Party has even talked with the Telugu Desam Party President N Chandrababu Naidu a few time ago. Following the so-called talks, Naidu seems to be swerving around to give support to the Big B. Naidu says that the TDP has fixed a trend by giving support to a non-politician as president. Besides, TDP sources also maintain that the party considers Bachchan as the President of India will trigger off the young generation. All this discussion might astonish even the megastar, who were learnt to have said that Bachchan is not looking to quit acting.
