

Legendary actor Ben Kingsley is all set to make a comeback to India for his new romance film based on Indian mausoleum Taj Mahal. The film at its initial stage will make a mark on its own as Oscar winner Kingsley will act opposite to Bollywood actress Ashwarya Bachchan.
Kingsley will play the grief-stricken Mughal King Shah Jahan who commissioned the Taj Mahal in the memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Kingsley is said to have roped in Ashwarya Bachchan as Mumtaz last year, when the two were filming for The Last Legion.
Emperor Shah Jahan’s third wife Mumtaz Mahal died in 1631 while giving birth to his fourteenth child named Gauhara Begum. Soon after her death Shah Jahan ordered to build the mausoleum. The film will also picture Shah Jahan’s period of life that he spent in prison confinement.
The construction of epitome of love Taj Mahal by 20, 000 masons took 20 long years for the completion. It is now the most popular tourist attraction in India with some 2 to 3 million visitors visiting it every year.
Shooting for the film in Agra where Taj Mahal stands on the banks of the Yamuna river will begin next year.
Right now Kingsley is busy in other projects that include “The Wackness”, “Elegy”, and “Will (2009/II)”. Film ‘Will (2009/II)’ will have him both as a star and a producer. It is adaptation of the Christopher Rush novel, which deals with a meeting of William Shakespeare with his lawyers to discuss his last, will and testament.
Ashwarya is currently filming for MGM’s The Next Pink Panther in New York.
