Amitabh Bachchan is a man on a mission. A mission of reconciliation seeking to clear his name, by any means possible. And to this end he has proposed to donate his farmland in Uttar Pradesh to the farmers.

In a letter dated 12th July, he communicated his decision to donate the farmland in Daulatpur to its gramsabha. In a similar letter addressed to the Pune high commissioner, the actor has surrendered his farmlands in Pune, as well.

Amitabh magnetized controversy when he allegedly used forged documents, declaring him a farmer, to buy over 20 acres of agricultural land in Pune. Lawfully, nobody can purchase agricultural land in Pune if he is not a farmer. The forged documents had been certified by the then, Mulayam Singh Yadav UP government.

In his letter to the Pune commissioner, Bachchan has requested that the Pawna land be donated to the farmers who owned it before it was acquired for the construction of a dam. Similarly, the land in Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh), he said, should be used for a school which he had wanted to build.

Amitabh Bachchan is believed to be tired of the harangue of misappropriating the farmer’s land and tagging of farmer identity for monetary profit. With this Amitabh Bachchan has definitely done amending labors for his image, which, if I may say so, has taken a bit of beating lately.
