'Actors' or 'Farmers' - a blessing in disguise

The farming occupation seems to be getting a face-lift now, with prominent names like Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan associating themselves with one of the oldest occupations in India.

They have courted a lot of controversy in the recent times and 'farming' seems to be high on their list. However, their connection to farming is not on similar lines.

A multi-billionaire, Big.B seems to have taken a serious dent to his reputation after he claimed that he is a 'poor farmer'. On the basis of his claim, he was allotted a 70,000 sq.ft land in Barabanki by former UP Chief Minister, Mulayam Singh Yadav. This had drawn a lot of flak and the Faizabad court rejected his plea stating he was nowhere close to being a 'poor farmer'.

On the other side, Mr. Perfectionist, Aamir, though not very media-friendly, has always ensured a column in newspapers and magazines through his off-convention activities. Be it his support for the Narmada Bachao Andolan or engaging in a slugfest with the Gujarat BJP government. The maverick's latest gimmick is the controversy in the movie Taare Zameen Par. He has claimed that he comes from a family of agriculturalists and that his fathers and forefathers have been farmers, owning mango orchards in Uttar Pradesh. Well, it seems our superstars are fine actors off screen as well!!
