Plagiarism is not a new trend in bollywood. Due to some peculiar reason, some directors in Bollywood are devastatingly short of original ideas. They get ‘inspired‘ from a foreign film, or may be a regional film, and finally come out with ‘their‘ version of it. The inspired films, if contain any popular star cast, do quite good business in box office. Not only film, the music world is also full with music directors who need some kind of inspirations to compose their new music. There were names in the industry that were known for their original works. One of them Aamir Khan is now in discussion for his next film ‘Ghajini‘, which is a Hindi remake of director Murugadoss’s Tamil film Ghajini. While commenting on this matter, Aamir was found saying in his blog,
Now I am not sure if the film will be called Ghajini in Hindi. It’s a film that I saw and really liked it. It’s a very well made film. It’s a film that’s very moving and exciting at the same time
To add a new twist, the Tamil version of Ghajini is actually an inspired version of American film ‘Memento’. So the remake chain is quite long. Murugadoss liked the concept of Memento, though it is claimed he has not seen the movie. Now Aamir is after the remake in Hindi. Sad news for Aamir fans? Aamir Khan is a different kind of name in the industry for his experimental works.
He always preferred originality over blockbusters. This is the main reason why his magic single handedly worked tremendously amongst Indian and foreign audience. This time his decision and his desperate effort to disprove plagiarism somehow bring down his image to the ground. Aamir even said he has not enjoyed memento at all for some unknown reason.
A movie like memento with world wide critique applause could not attract a person like Aamir Khan, who is Aamir trying to fool? He did not like Memento; Murugadoos did not even watch it, and what else Aamir? We have seen so many inspired mega hits like Baazigar, Akele Hum Akele Tum, and many more to name. It is really sad to see personality like Aamir Khan amidst his most mature acting exhibition is all set to take short cuts. We heard he is choosy about his scripts, and takes a long time before signing up. Does anyone really need any time to sign for a remake? Certainly an activity not at all expected from this versatile and talented actor.
